It is the sincere wish of the committee that whoever reads the pages of this brochure enjoys the contents since it is a story of the first one hundred years of the Monthalia United Methodist Church. In compiling this book, it is our endeavor to leave to the descendants of our church the information that we have gleaned from record books and by visiting with a few members who remember some of the happenings of the early church.

We also wish to acknowledge and express appreciation to all those who had any part in assisting with the compilation of this centennial edition, whether by writing some of the stories, relating what they remembered, or the lending of pictures for inclusion in this book. Any omissions or errors are only human and are unintentional, so please forgive us for them.

A special "thank you" goes to Ruth Smith, who so generously gave of her time and talent to draw the sketch of our church for the cover of this centennial book.
